Now that you’ve got your medication, let’s walk you through how to take your GLP-1 medication safely and confidently!
Wash your hands. Gather your medication vial, syringe, alcohol swab, and sharps container.
Prepare your syringe. Clean the medication vial’s rubber cap with an alcohol swab and wait for it to dry. Carefully remove the needle cap from your sterile syringe and draw air into the syringe that equals your prescribed medication dose. Insert the needle through the center of the rubber cap and turn the vial upside down. Gently push the air into the vial, then slowly pull back on the plunger to withdraw your prescribed dose.
Choose your injection site. Use your abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Rotate spots to avoid irritation.
Inject the dose. Grasp your skin with the hand not holding the syringe. Holding the syringe barrel tightly with your writing hand, use your wrist to insert the needle at a 45-degree angle through the skin.
Dispose safely. Dispose of the syringe and needle in a Sharps Container.

Sometimes when your dose increases, you’ll actually inject a smaller amount because the medication solution is more concentrated. This means even though you’re injecting less liquid, you’re still getting a higher dose of the medication.

Your medication is designed to remain stable at room temperature for 24-48 hours, so it will stay safe and effective even if you’re not home to immediately refrigerate it when it arrives. Once you receive your delivery, simply place the medication in your refrigerator for proper storage.
