How Our Pets Give Us Purpose
Thank you to our wonderful Next Level team for sharing their paw-some pets with us, we’re so glad they decided to show off these amazing animals.
February 20th is National Love Your Pet Day! What a perfect day to remind people that pets are the best! Our furry friends are more than just friendly companions, they can change our physical habits and mental outlook. Here’s how caring for a dog, cat, or other animals can help relieve depression and anxiety, lower stress, and improve your heart health.
Animals are always in the present moment, which teaches us to be more mindful to stay focused on the here and now. Taking the time to watch a happy dog or cat is such a joyous experience- it elevates our mood and distracts us from other concerns. Studies have found that people who spent time with a therapy dog got lower levels of stress and hypertension! Taking a few minutes to pet our furry friends can help us relax and be more energized to rise to the next challenge.
Interacting and playing with your pet can give you and your day an extra burst of energy. This one applies more to dog owners. One study found that dog owners take nearly 2,800 more steps each day than those without a pooch. On those walks, we’re more likely to engage with others, energizing our social life, as well.
Pets increase happiness in people. They are ecstatically happy at the drop of a hat and always know how to make you feel better when things are tough. Even if it only means jumping up on your lap or giving them a scratch behind the ears! A recent survey showed how much furry friends positively affected others around them; 78% claimed to see another person smile after talking about their pet. Pets can also strengthen your bond with family and friends.
This holiday was created to give extra attention and gratitude to the pets in our lives! So, what are you waiting for? Give your fur baby some love today by treating them like royalty while they deserve it most. 🙂
